Workin’ on a chain gang

As part of HSBC’s “Care in the Community” a few of us ‘inmates’ were let out to do some ‘community work’ 😀

…but seriously … HSBC has an excellent programme whereby they allow staff to have time out to work on local community projects or for local societies.
A few of us from HMG were lucky enough to be able to work on a project for La Société Guernesiaise.

It was fantastic, it was hard work but we had a rewarding time of it. Basically we were helping to clear 2 La Société nature reserve sites that had previously been mown. The grass & reeds needed to be cleared by hand as the sites were inaccessible to machines. Clearing the sites has meant that the flora and fauna can continue to thrive in these beautiful locations.

The sites we cleared were the Silbe and Bergers nature reserves. In addition another team from the private bank also cleared the Jardin de Lorette reserve.
